North Korea (DRPK) has armed forces consisting of 7.68 million personnel in its active, reserve, paramilitary forces and Peasant Red Guard. With 1.19 million active personnel in the regular armed forces, it has the highest rate of military personnel relative to its population – almost 49 military personnel for every 1,000 of its population. Hence it is the world’s most militarized nation.
