Oshkosh Defense (USA) has introduced a new ten-wheeled recovery vehicle based on its heavy logistic vehicle system. Called the Heavy Recovery System, it can reach and retrieve broken and damaged vehicles in almost any terrain, and it can haul vehicles up to 55 tons (50 tonnes). It is equipped with a centrally mounted material-handling crane, a 10,000-lb cargo deck and a pair of recovery winches with a 78,000-lb combined straight pull rating. Operated by a two-man crew and with a range of some 300 miles (483 km) and a max speed of 65 mph (105 km/h), it is the largest and most versatile, tactical, air-transportable recovery system deployed in operational service today.
