The US Marine Corps is introducing a new family of heavy logistics vehicles. The new Logistics Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR), produced by Oshkosh Defense (USA), is the largest, ten-wheeled, tactical, cargo vehicle of its kind. Fitted with an integrated self-loading system and able to carry a load of 22.5 US tons (20,412 kg) on-road and 16.5 US tons (14,969 kg) off-road, it is powered by a 600-hp diesel engine linked to a seven-speed transmission. The vehicle is comprised of a front section housing a two-man crew, which is integrated with one of five interchangeable rear body components. In its heavy tactical logistic role it will carry bulk liquids, ammunition, standard containers and tactical support equipment in addition to general cargo.
It can be transported by the Lockheed Martin C-5A and Boeing C-17 military cargo aircraft.
