Opened in July 2010, the world’s largest airport library is based at Schiphol, near Amsterdam, Holland. It measures 90 square metres. The library, which is located beyond passport control, offers a range of collections, including books (in several languages), DVDs and other items. It also boasts a separate download room, where passengers can copy parts of the collection to mobile devices for later viewing.
The first library to open at an airport is believed to be a branch of the Nashville Public Library, which was established at the municipal airport in Nashville, USA, 1962.
