American Crossword Puzzle Tournament
Founded in 1978 by Will Shortz, now the crossword editor of The New York Times, the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament is the world's oldest and largest crossword event. It draws nearly 1,000 crossword enthusiasts every year to Stamford, Connecticut, USA, for a weekend of competitive solving and playing word games. Shortz holds the world's only college degree in Enigmatology, the study of puzzles from Indiana University.

The most wins of the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament (inaugurated 1978) is eight by Dan Feyer (USA) in 2010–15, 2017 and 2019. Winning a prize of $5,000, Feyer's most recent victory took place at the Stamford Marriott hotel in Connecticut, USA, on 22-24 Mar 2019. He also holds the record for the most consecutive ACPT wins: six in a row between 2010 and 2015.
