AbleGamers

Founded in 2004 by Mark Barlet, the charity AbleGamers creates opportunities that enable play in order to combat social isolation, foster inclusive communities and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. AbleGamers is combating social isolation through play. People with disabilities are at a heightened risk of social isolation and play is a powerful weapon against that. Play, specifically via videogames, allows individuals with disabilities to experience situations that may be difficult or limited in the real world, provide social-networking opportunities to maintain mental and emotional health and participate in one of the world’s largest pastimes. Their programmes change lives, shatter stereotypes and build a powerful platform for people with disabilities to be heard, respected and included. Their dedication to increasing the representation of people with disabilities is evident throughout their work. AbleGamers has empowered thousands of people to connect with the gaming world, and created multiple adaptive hardware solutions by working with engineering team and research partners. #SoEveryoneCanGame
