Aevin Dugas is an ICON, and has a gorgeous crown to prove it. 

Aevin's beautiful natural, lovingly-nurtured curls earned the American ICON her first-ever Guinness World Records title in 2010 for the largest afro on a living person (female): a record she went on to beat again in 2021 and 2022, when her natural afro measured a height of 25 cm (9.84 in) and a whopping circumference of 165 cm (5 ft 4.9 in).

The record holder from Reserve, Louisiana, began her au naturel journey in her mid-20s, after ditching harmful hair-straightening products and chemical relaxers to embrace her natural texture. 
“I didn’t decide to grow an afro as much as I decided to go natural,” she said. 

A core member of the beauty community, today the ICON continues to advocate for cultural pride and uniqueness while educating others on the benefits of a mindful haircare routine. Aevin rocked the largest afro until GWR Day 2025, when she handed over the crown to Jessica “Jess” L. Martinez (USA).
