Lancaster Insurance have set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for Largest parade of MG cars. A staggering 144 MG automobiles paraded around Rockingham Circuit in Corby, Northamptonshire (UK), on 11th April 2015..
Organised by Lancaster Insurance with the support of the MG Owners’ Club, the first ever parade of MG cars was set to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the insurance company while raising brand awareness and promoting its specialist Classic Car & 4x4 insurance products.
The attempt took ‘pole position’ in the race for a new Guinness World Records title on the Oval Track in Corby, one of Europe’s fastest banked oval racing circuits, with more than a hundred classic and modern MGs in attendance.
Drivers slammed on their accelerators and took off as the green flag was waved. Successfully complying with official guidelines, 144 MG cars drove around the oval circuit while maintaining a distance of two vehicle-lengths apart from each other during the entire parade. A Guinness World Records adjudicator oversaw the high-octane achievement and confirmed the new record achievement for the 144 MG motoring enthusiast participants and Lancaster Insurance on the day.
“We’re immensely proud to have set a brand new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title with the help of MG enthusiasts from all over the country!” commented Richard Morley, Lancaster Insurance’s Operations Director.
