crowdfunder virtual pub event the covid arms guinness world records

Some of the UK’s finest comics will be gathering online in an attempt to achieve the Guinness World Records title for the most users to visit a virtual pub.

The Covid Arms will be open for a virtual pub quiz night from 8pm BST on May 1st 2020.

A host of comedians including Russell Howard, Nish Kumar and Joel Dommett, will band together to raise money for The National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal, as well as pubs up and down the UK which are currently closed for business due to the lockdown.

The virtual pub's quiz will feature quick-fire questions, a music round hosted by a mystery guest and an appearance by The Chase’s Vixen, Jenny Ryan.

The Covid Arms co-founder and virtual landlady Kiri Pritchard-Mclean is excited to go back to her roots of gigging in pubs, saying “this is exactly the slice of kindness and joy we all need now. See you at the bar.”

“After the news broke that the lockdown had been extended for another three weeks, we thought that the time was right to celebrate the incredible community spirit and humour at the heart of the British public by bringing back the Great British tradition of sharing a pint" - Simon Deverell, Founder and Director of Crowdfunder UK

Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday added: “Any initiative that keeps as many of us indoors as possible right now is worth celebrating, so fingers crossed for a record-breaking knees up.

“The next best thing to a night out with your mates is a night IN with your mates - and let's face it, when are you ever going to get the chance again to share a drink with so many celebs in the same pub?”

Other celebrities attending the event include Jon Richardson, Marcus Brigstocke, Rachel Parris and Lucy Beaumont.
