Drone show lights up the sky in Texas with a record-breaking week of visual displays
Groups of spectators in Manvel, Texas, USA were stunned by nine days of dazzling drone shows, after Aerial Illuminations Drone Shows and UVify (both USA) prepared a performance of record-setting proportions.
In the lead up to Easter, the two companies united at The Field on MastersRoad to run a series of public shows that would culminate in a holiday celebration with over 10,000 drones.
Depicting classic works of art and lifelike portrayals of scenes from the Bible, the drones would take to the sky right after the Church’s programmes would conclude for the night – offering a visual display of the lessons that the Pastors were lecturing about inside.
In all, the performances resulted in five new Guinness World Records titles, including: the largest flying LED screen formed by multirotor/drones (9,969), the largest aerial logo formed by multirotors/drones (9,985), the largest multirotor/drone QR code formation (9,370), and the largest aerial word formed by multirotors/drones (depicting ‘JESUS,’ with 9,975 drones).
They secured their fifth title after completing their week-long run between 27 March and 1 April, claiming the record for the most multirotor/drones launched in a week with 66,123. This was over three times the amount launched by the previous record holder – NOOR Riyadh (KSA) – who displayed a total of 21,000 drones in one week in December 2023.
The scale of this launch was particularly notable, as it required a crew of 100 people working onsite to maintain the flight patterns of roughly $25 million (£18.5 million) worth of drones and field equipment.
Aerial Illuminations contributed thousands of drones, and with the help of their manufacturer, sourced the rest from across the country to complete the records.

Yet finally, by Easter season they were ready for the spectacle to begin – launching the first of their shows on 27 March, while building up the hype for the big celebration.
And on 31 March, they had a packed house – waiting in the wings as they prepared to light up the night sky for their largest performance yet. Also in attendance was Guinness World Records Adjudicator Andy Glass, who was monitoring the event to make sure that everything went according to plan.
“Managing nearly 10,000 drones across multiple formations in one show is not trivial, and the team executed really well,” he said. “This was a big jump across all categories, especially considering how recent some of the previous records were.”
Yet during the performance, the drones performed with practised confidence, as the show cycled through multiple formations, including: the functional QR code, large-scale LED screen displaying famous artworks, the logos of Aerial Illuminations and UVify, and the finale, the name “JESUS” lighting up the sky.
“This was my first time seeing a drone show up close, and it really was mesmerizing,” said Andy.
After the Adjudicator completed the final checks, he was delighted to announce that Aerial Illuminations and UVify had taken the records, thanks to the support of the Church.
The pastors then gave a final concluding speech inside – and despite the late hour, they encouraged all the participants to return the following year to take the records even further.
