On 17 August, in Xuancheng, Anhui, China, under the watchful eye of an official Guinness World Records Adjudicator, a GAC Honda Accord sedan skillfully passed through 17 moving vehicles in just 30 seconds, clinching the Guinness World Records title for the most moving cars weaved through in 30 seconds

This remarkable feat surpassed the previous record of navigating 16 moving vehicles, showcasing the Accord’s exceptional agility and precision.

GAC Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. is jointly invested and constructed by Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd., Honda Giken Industrial Co., Ltd. and Honda Giken Industrial Investment Co., Ltd. (all China) at a 50:40:10 share ratio, responsible for producing and selling Accord vehicles in China.

As Honda’s global flagship model, the Accord has long been celebrated for its refined handling and superior mechanical quality. This record-breaking challenge further underscores that outstanding driving dynamics and performance remain key benchmarks of a vehicle’s excellence.

The record attempt took place on a controlled test track, utilizing 18 11th-generation Accord sedans, with one serving as the challenge vehicle. Before the attempt, the challenge car and the accompanying fleet maintained a steady, synchronized formation. Upon the adjudicator’s signal, the Accord accelerated, weaving through the 17 moving vehicles – which acted as dynamic obstacles – within the 30-second time limit.

Unlike traditional cone-weaving challenges, navigating through moving vehicles demands extraordinary skill under intense time pressure. The driver must demonstrate pinpoint steering accuracy, rapid acceleration response, stable chassis control, and consistent braking performance.

GAC Honda attributes the Accord’s success to its cutting-edge engineering:

Powertrain Excellence: The eleventh-generation Accord is powered by a 1.5L VTEC Turbo engine, delivering 141 kW (189 hp) and 260 Nm of torque. Its instantaneous throttle response and sustained power output were critical for rapid acceleration after each turn, ensuring no performance drop-off.

Advanced Chassis Dynamics: The Accord boasts a high-rigidity body structure, a low centre of gravity, and a precise variable-ratio steering system. The Motion Management System (MMS) optimizes power delivery and braking response during aggressive maneuvers, maintaining stability and front-wheel traction.

Honda Architecture: The Accord’s underpinnings leverage Honda’s new architecture, which combines high rigidity, lightweight construction, and low-friction components, enhancing the vehicle’s agility and responsiveness.

The eleventh-generation Accord continues to uphold its status as a global bestseller, with over 25 million units sold worldwide, including more than 3.5 million in China alone.
