Texas charity assembled an incredible line of over 10,000 sandwiches for local food banks

Over 1,000 volunteers in Arlington, Texas became chefs for the day when they rallied around a charity to donate over 10,000 sandwiches to people in need.
Tables at the entertainment venue Texas Live! were filled with piles and piles of lunches on 12 September, 2022 to be delivered to local food banks as part of a Guinness World Records attempt for the longest line of sandwiches.
The hundreds of volunteers led by Tango Charities and Friends arrived at the scene early that day and were sorted into assembly stations, where they started stacking toppings like cheese, deli meat and mustard on to square slices of bread. The wrapped sandwiches were then lined up in a delicious-looking queue and counted, before being boxed up and donated.
They created 10,852 sandwiches, which contributed to the 20,000 meals the charity delivered to hungry people in their community because of this event.
All their hard work was rewarded with a record title – and participants walked away feeling proud to have taken part in something Officially Amazing.
To celebrate such a remarkable day, volunteers who were part of this record-breaking event can head to the GWR store to commemorate the day with a special Record Participant Certificate.
“What people don’t know is that there’s over 260 food organizations all around North Texas,” said Nick Marino Jr, Tango Charities Volunteer Executive Director, to Fox News Seattle. “So we are the middle men, women, children, and senior citizens that come together to bring the food, bring the meals, and distribute to our partner organizations to keep their shelves filled.”
This is not the first instance of sandwich-making selflessness for the charity, who also broke the record for most people making sandwiches simultaneously in 2014 with 1,387 participants. They broke their own title a few years later when 2,586 volunteers showed up to make food for the needy at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, USA, on 27 February 2016.
Tango also previously held the record for most sandwiches made in one hour with 57,662, a title that was overtaken by the King David Linksfield School in South Africa in 2022.
Since the charity’s foundation as a 501c3 organization in 2020, they’ve donated over 7 million meals to partner organizations across the globe, and hosted over 100,000 volunteers at 1,708 Feed the City events aiming to help people in need.
And they’re always cooking up new ways to keep the community involved in different monthly events… so shout out to these charitable chefs!
