Micah Kingham (UK) is a 13-year-old boy with a big wish: to make it into the Guinness World Records book!

He’s now surely on his way, with the teenager breaking the record for the most rotating puzzle cubes solved on stilts in one hour.

This was a new record title to break with the minimum set at 60 solves.

The record attempt was made possible by the UK affiliate of global charity Make-A-Wish Foundation, helping to make critically ill children’s wishes come true.

Micah, not just a speedy cube solver but also a skilled stilt walker, turned both of his passions into a record attempt with the support of the charity and his family.

When diagnosed with leukaemia, Micah always had a puzzle cube with him – a way to distract him throughout his treatment.

His love for puzzle cube solving started when he was just seven years old, while off school with an ear infection.

He was inspired by fellow record-breaker Josiah Plett after seeing her claim the title for the most rotating puzzle cubes solved while hula hooping.

Determined to break a record of his own, he took his official attempt seriously, practising for hours on end.

In the process, he increased his speed solving time with an average of just 20 seconds per cube!

The attempt took place at St Philip’s Church in Bradford, with his family and friends in attendance to cheer him on.

Micah’s mum, Christy, remembers the atmosphere of setting everything up as “so exciting”.

After a final practise on stilts, it was time for his official attempt.

Volunteers were on hand to give Micah scrambled puzzle cubes to solve, and after an anxious hour, he successfully broke the record with 172 solves.

With his best practise run resulting in 150 solves, Micah kept the pace up throughout the entire hour and managed to surpass his own expectations.

Micah was then handed his Guinness World Records certificate by Official Adjudicator Joanne Brent, granting his wish, leaving Micah, his family and everyone in the room absolutely elated!

It’s a dream come true, it’s exhilarating and amazing! A really big thank you - this was a wish come true made possible by these people. It can bring happiness in what is sometimes not an enjoyable time, something to look forward to and brighten up life! – Micah Kingham

Mum Christy added: “Our family and friends could feel the joy of being on that journey with Micah. So, this wish and experience was also healing for the whole community”.

The next day, Micah proudly wore his Guinness World Records medal to school.
