Over 1,500 people unite on stunning Canadian mountain to hike with brand Kathmandu

On a beautiful Saturday morning in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, hundreds of hikers lined up near Cypress Mountain and prepared to take their love for the outdoors to new heights with the brand Kathmandu Canada.
As part of a Guinness World Records attempt for the most people hiking simultaneously, the clothing and gear company wanted to showcase the transformative power of being outdoors and demonstrate the organization's long-standing dedication to adventure, innovation, and sustainability.
So they invited hundreds of locals to join them on a hike up a moderate 4 km (2.5 mi) path on Cypress Mountain on Vancouver’s North Shore – and on that sunny day, 1,566 people showed up for the event, claiming the record title for Kathmandu Canada and exploring nature with hundreds of their new friends.
“This is so amazing to achieve this record,” said the brand, “and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the group marking a new Guinness World Records title.”
On the day of the attempt, organizers showed up early to set up trail markers, a DJ booth, spots to purchase merchandise, and food stands.
And soon enough, hundreds of hikers began to arrive and stream through the entrance to the park, each of whom were counted by Guinness World Records Adjudicator Tina Shi to assure the participants were following proper guidelines.
Throughout the event, attendees also had the chance to buy “World’s Biggest Hike” t-shirts and water bottles, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the nonprofit organizations BC Parks Foundation, Take a Hike Foundation, and North Shore Rescue.
Organizers also worked with partners at Cypress Mountain, Oboz Footwear, and the Mountain Equipment Company, to take every precaution to ensure a safe, fun, and environmentally friendly event.
Once everyone was accounted for, the event started with hikers rushing through under an archway to begin their trek up the mountain.
Some excited outdoorspeople ran straight through, while others began mingling with those in their surrounding area, making new friends and talking about their love for nature.
The hike itself was incredibly scenic, with views of mist rolling over tree-covered hills, crystalline bodies of water, and sprinklings of purple and yellow flowers dotting the path.
And inspiring their journey were the sounds of the DJ booth, laughter, and chit-chatting, as the hikers made their way up the rocky trails of Cypress Mountain.
When the walk was winding down, attendees could stop at food or drink stalls, or learn more from educators who set up tents on the mountain to talk about nature and the hiking community.
And when everybody converged again at the base of the mountain, Guinness World Records Adjudicator Tina was thrilled to announce that they had taken the title for the most people hiking simultaneously.
“It is so impressive that people are so excited and proud of themselves to participate in this attempt,” she said, before passing over the certificate to the event organizers. “As well as being proud of their four kilometres spent hiking!”
After accepting the title, Kathmandu Canada and the audience celebrated their achievement together, hoisting their new record certificate in the air and cheering.
Despite the long trek, everyone was exhilarated at the opportunity to spend time outdoors with likeminded individuals, and the attempt was a true success – bringing people from all walks of life out to the mountains to enjoy the beauty of nature together.
Congratulations to Kathmandu Canada and everyone who turned up to hike – you are all Officially Amazing!
