Artist and influencer fulfils lifelong goal by creating largest dripping pendulum painting

Artist and content creator Cole Newman (USA), well known on social media as ColesColor, has achieved a Guinness World Records title for the largest dripping pendulum painting.
Measuring 2210.4 m2 – the size of eight and a half tennis courts – the record-breaking canvas was painted in Dallas, Texas, USA, on 18 May.
Cole required a team of 20 people including a crane operator, media team, and setup team to work on this project. The result is what he describes as an important milestone of his professional art career.
To break this world record, Cole used 1000 lb of paint, requiring a custom-made 100+ gallon barrel and a 250-ft tall crane to drip the paint over the canvas.
The final canvas measured 49.12 meters in length and 45 meters in width, and was set up at the Texas State Fairgrounds.
Cole decided to pair his creative skills and entrepreneurial spirit with new technology to make the record possible.
Throughout the project, Cole used AI to make a plan and create a draft of the painting.
One big challenge that Cole needed to overcome on the day of the record attempt was the high temperature in Dallas, which reached 29.4ºC (85ºF).
The hot pavement melted the glue that was going to hold the canvas to the ground several times, and winds picked up throughout the morning.
While the team started operations at 10:00 a.m., it wasn’t until 7:30 p.m. that the canvas was ready and measured to start painting.
Once painting started, Cole and his team were so well prepared that in only 30 minutes the pendulum painting was finished and the record confirmed.
Guinness World Records Adjudicator Tina Shi was present at the fairgrounds to verify the record and present Cole with the official certificate.
Congratulations, Cole and welcome to the Guinness World Records family!
