7,598 drones set new world record with stunning aerial display

A stunning display of 7,598 drones lit up the night sky to create vivid images that claimed a world record.
The display, on the evening of 3 September, officially became the largest aerial image formed by multirotors/drones.
This breathtaking show was organized to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, with the drones provided by Shenzhen Damoda Intelligent Control Technology Co., Ltd.
The number of drones used for this record was more than double the previous record of 3,191.
Back in September 2020, Damoda had already made headlines by setting a Guinness World Records title in Zhuhai, China, with 3,051 drones becoming the most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) airborne simultaneously.
This latest display, featuring more drones than the record-breaking show four years ago, came together on a much tighter schedule.
However, with significant advancements in technology and products over the years, the Damoda team was able to pull off the event with ease.
Before the performance, all drones were neatly arranged in "take-off boxes," with each box containing 12 drones.
A single laptop was all it took to control the fleet, with the system monitoring each drone’s status in real-time.
The drones shifted continuously across the night sky, forming iconic images like the Great Wall and a majestic dragon, while also paying tribute to Yanbian's unique culture with depictions of the city flower, the Azalea, and traditional dancers.
According to the attempt guidelines, the drones had to maintain the image for at least 20 seconds. The record-breaking tiger image held for an impressive 37 seconds.
After the drone show, fireworks illuminated the sky, perfectly complementing the display.
It’s reported that tens of thousands of people were on hand to witness this stunning visual experience live.
