Happy St David’s Day!

Guinness World Records has once again teamed up with leading Welsh language broadcaster S4C to celebrate the national day of Wales with some record-breaking activities.

From back-breaking monster truck pulls to a surprising number of rabbit tattoos, and everything in between, a bunch of Welsh nationals have been flying the flag by setting world records.

You’ll be able to see it all when special broadcast Guinness World Records Cymru 2024 airs on S4C on 1 April.

But what can you expect?

Andrew Conway and Nicola Walters combined their strength to set the fastest time to pull a monster truck 20 m (team of two) in just 19.5 seconds.

But Nicola wasn’t done there, she also teamed up with Bethan Grice, Lisa Marie Hassall and Sam Taylor to smash the record for fastest time to pull a lorry/truck 20 m by a team (female).

The lorry weighed a massive 20,240 kg (44,621 lb) but they did it in just 20 seconds.

Boxing twin brothers Ioan and Garan Croft, who are both Commonwealth Games medallists, went head-to-head to claim the title of most full extension punches wearing boxing gloves in one minute.

But it was Ioan who claimed the record with a total of 279.

Garan had actually thrown more punches during his attempt, but enough of them were disqualified when the slow-motion footage was reviewed that the title went to his sibling.

The brothers then went on to set a record together, breaking the most boxing duck and weaves by a pair in one minute with a whopping 138.

Alun Williams, who’ll be presenting the show alongside Rhianna Loren, said: “I’m really proud to be involved in this programme once again. The interesting people we meet along the way, and the amazing and challenging records that are attempted is a credit to everyone that takes part. It’s definitely worth a watch!”

Members of the YFC travelled from all over Wales to Cefn Sidan to stage the longest distance game of tug of war, which was staged over a massive 516.35 metres (1,694 ft). They were joined by local learners from Coleg Sir Gar and team captains – Wales rugby legends Scott Quinnell and Elinor Snowsill.

100 people took part and it was Elinor's team who came out on top.

Presenter Rhianna also bounced into the record books by completing the fastest 20 m on a space hopper (female) in 11.77 seconds. This it the first time in the show's history that a presenter has earned a record.

I'm so thrilled to have been a part of this fun, celebratory series. It's an honour to watch people attempt some truly incredible records, and to meet the phenomenal talent we have right across Wales. Being involved in this programme is such a joy - and it's a joy to watch, too! - Rhianna

It’s going to be a great show!
