Visitors to CeraVe’s booth at this year’s AAD (American Academy of Dermatology) annual meeting had the opportunity to make history as they joined the skincare brand to break a Guinness World Records title.
The CeraVe team wanted to make a big impact at the convention by creating an unprecedented campaign. The brand invited hundreds of board-certified dermatologists to apply body moisturizer in front of the camera in order to create a record-breaking video chain.
As a result, CeraVe achieved the Guinness World Records title for longest video chain of people applying body moisturizer, with an impressive total of 625 people!
The historic achievement took place in New Orleans, Lousiana, USA, from 17-18 March 2023.
Official Adjudicator, Michael Empric, and a team from Guinness World Records were on-site to verify the attempt and announce the results.
This was a new Guinness World Records title, and the minimum to beat was 250 participants.
One interesting fact regarding this record is that, although the video may suggest that all the participants are using the same jar of body moisturizer, each one of the participants was actually given a brand new, full-size moisturizer jar as a reward for taking part.
This attempt was part of CeraVe’s Moisturize Like a Derm campaign, which brings information about the benefits of body moisturization to the forefront.
It was also the perfect opportunity to create entertaining yet educational content, and boost follower engagement on social media.

According to a recent survey sponsored by CeraVe, 90% of dermatologists say moisturizing your body daily is important for overall skin health.
As a dermatologist-developed brand, CeraVe is rooted in dermatological science and remains committed to making skincare and education accessible to consumers around the world.
While it was not part of the official guidelines, CeraVe aimed to break the record with the participation of only board-certified dermatologists as a way to show their appreciation for the community of experts they constantly work with.
