ESPN announcer holding certificate and adjudicator michael holding certificate for goodyear cornhole records

While cornhole is one of the most popular games in the US, these amazing world records will change everything you think you knew about it.

People can play cornhole at any outdoor event - from family barbecues to tailgating at professional and college football games.

Those unfamiliar with cornhole should know that the game involves throwing fabric bean bags at an angled board with a hole at the far end.

The objective of the game is to score points either by putting a bag through the hole or landing it on the board.

With cornhole's increasing popularity over the last couple of years, brands have transformed it from an outdoor tailgating game to a record-breaking PR/Marketing campaign.

We have helped brands integrate their marketing messages into cornhole record attempts to create their own unique, record-breaking moments.

Here are some of the most exciting record-breaking cornhole moments we have seen in recent years!

ESPN longest cornhole shot

ESPN – Longest cornhole shot

Marty Smith threw an impressive 23.16 m (76 ft) cornhole shot at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, that earned the record title for the longest cornhole shot on 5 November 2022.

The attempt took place during SEC Nation's coverage of the Tennessee-Georgia football game on the university campus.

Marty is one of ESPN's most well-known and popular hosts and reporters, covering college football, basketball, the NFL and NBA, and NASCAR.

And now he can add Guinness World Records title holder to his resume.

Individuals from the public had the chance to have official attempts, as did the presenters of the show.

The list of participants included Tim Tebow, an American football player, and Roman Harper, a former American football player.

Within a short time, an individual named Ross McCurdy broke the record for the longest cornhole shot

Iowa state fair for the largest cornhole tournament

Iowa State Fair – Largest cornhole tournament

A group of 730 people got together to break a world record for the largest cornhole tournament in Iowa, USA, on 20 August 2022.

Last year's tournament was both impressive in size and in the level of commitment of the participants especially when it started to rain on and off over half the tournament.

The previous record holder was in San Diego and had 444 people turn up for their cornhole tournament.

According to the fair's website, the Iowa tournament was scheduled to last four to five hours.

The fair would have been disqualified from trying to set a record if more than 10% of those remaining had left before it ended.

The idea to break the world record for largest cornhole tournament began where many grand scale ideas often begin, over some ice-cold drinks and food back in 2018.

Cheerleaders from Alabama and Michigan State played a giant, record-breaking game of cornhole from a blimp ahead of the crucial College Football Playoff semi-final between the two teams at the tail end of the year.

Organised by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, the super-sized version of the traditional tailgate game was set up at the company’s airship base in Pompano Beach, Florida on 28 December 2015.

FRYfest was created in 2009 as a collaborative effort between the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, City of Coralville, and University of Iowa Athletics to kick-off the Hawkeye football season.
