The Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) have broken the record for the largest LEGO® brick Formula 1 car, which is made up of over 500,000 LEGO® bricks

The SAMF is the official promoter of the Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2021, which will be held in the Saudi city Jeddah in December this year.

The assembly of the record-breaking LEGO® Formula 1 car took place in Red Sea Mall in Jeddah.

The finished car is 5.710 m long, 2.048 m high and 1.072m tall.

All contributor's to the attempt had their names displayed on a digital screen next to the record-breaking vehicle.

The final LEGO® brick was laid by HRH Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal on Saudi Arabia’s 91st National Day, the 23rd of September.

"I am ecstatic to announce the completion of the world’s largest ever LEGO brick build of a Formula 1 car – fully approved and certified by Guinness World Records! To be able to showcase this to the world at the weekend of the Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2021 is an amazing achievement and I cannot wait to see what more is in store for us." - Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah

The SAMF also aimed to have members of the public participate in the record-breaking attempt, but with a charitable twist.

In the build-up to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix™, Saudi residents were invited to purchase a LEGO® brick that was used in the car’s construction. This payment was sent directly to Ehsan, the Saudi Arabian National Platform for Charitable Work.

Ehsan (which means kindness in Arabic) helps raise money for those in need as well as facilitating contributions to various non-profits within Saudi society.

The donations were used to help provide relief and support across Saudi Arabia’s educational and healthcare sector.
