In celebration of the Chinese New Year, more than 1,000 Geely DIHAO cars gathered on the morning of December 31 at Geely Automobile’s second manufacturing base in Cixi, Zhejiang, China.

According to the traditional Chinese calendar, February 12 is the first day of the New Year and the Chinese Spring Festival.

This year's zodiac is the Year of the Ox.

That is why Geely Emgrand Official Clubs (China) decided to assemble a total of 750 cars to form a huge ox's head, breaking the Guinness World Records title for the largest car mosaic (image).

The Geely cars were parked for over 30 hours, with the darker coloured cars forming the ox image and lettering, and white cars providing a contrasting background.

The words "2021 Chinese ox" were also created to welcome in the new year, with 1,339 cars used in total.

The event gathered more than 100 Geely car owners from all over the country to participate.

According to the record’s guidelines, the mosaic had to be entirely made up of cars with a recognisable pattern.

The distance between that cars could not exceed 20 centimetres and the mosaic needed to cover a minimum area of 3,000 square metres.

After verification, the area of the mosaic reached 7,070.26 square meters.

"At the time of starting a new year, we want to spread the message of having a good heart and embracing the good life" - Geely Emgrand Official Clubs (China)

In Zhejiang, face masks are no longer required in public areas with open air. This meant the adjudicator was able to present the certificate in person.

The Chinese character for ox (牛) can also also represent "awesome" - let's hope that this is an indication for 2021!
