The ‘Biking Queens’ all-female motorcycle group in India achieved a Guinness World Records title for the Most people waving chequered flags (racing flags) at a recent send-off event in Surat, which saw the women leave for a ’10 Nation Ride’.
 
An incredible 500 people took part in the attempt which took place at Shri Harikrishna Exports Campus, Gem and Jewellery Park, as confirmed by official Guinness World Records adjudicator Rishi Nath.
 
Biker Queens accept record certificate in India
 
The event was organised to raise awareness about the Government of India's ongoing social initiative ‘Beti Bachaon Beti Padhaon’, which aims to improve the welfare services for young women.
 
Dr. Sarika Mahta, founder and leader of the Biking Queens group, said: “We have received an overwhelming supports from the people of our country. It is our privilege to take Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s campaign to the countries of South East Asia”.
 
Biker Queens send-off event in India
 
Following the farewell party, the women set off on their 10,000 km, 36-day long journey around India on which they will meet with various biking groups and members of the public.
 
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt. Anandiben Patel, who attended the record attempt, said: “We should be proud of these young women”.
 
Previously the record for the most people waving chequered flags was 258 and was at achieved by Flash Entertainment (UAE) in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on 24 October 2013.
