Internet pioneers Yahoo stand as one of the most iconic companies in Silicon Valley history.

So to commemorate its landmark 20th anniversary, the tech firm decided to mark the occasion with a record attempt featuring Yahoo’s signature sound.

The company's CEO Marissa Mayer assembled more than 3,432 employees outside of Yahoo's headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, for a successful attempt at the record for the largest simultaneous yodel.

The huge collective alpine call beat the previous record of 1,795 that had also been set by Yahoo employees back in 2004.

Mayer posted the picture above on her Tumblr blog, with the caption: “We shattered the record by a factor of 2 (previously 1700 people), but they made us yodel for a minute straight!”

The attempt served as the highlight of a day of Yahoo birthday celebrations, which also saw the Nasdaq opening bell ring replaced with a yodel - the first modification of the bell in the stock exchange's history.
