Just in time for summer fun, the Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Water Park in Galveston, Texas, USA has completed building the world’s Tallest water coaster.

The attraction – aptly named ‘MASSIV’ – is 24.86 metres (81 ft 6.72 in) tall and was created in celebration of the park’s 10th anniversary.

The thrilling attraction includes three uphill shoots, loads of twists and turns, a triple drop at the end, as well as having a “no-net” design that allows riders to take in the view while enjoying the ride.

The water coaster was designed in collaboration with WhiteWater Attractions.

Talking about the creation of the enormous water ride, the company’s lead designer Emily Colombo said: “Off to the drawing board I went to design an exceptionally tall water coaster into a very narrow space while balancing g-forces, ride dynamics, and velocities to produce the most exhilarating experience possible. What we’ve achieved is a ride with monstrous thrills and a great story.”

Ron Sutula Schlitterbahn Galveston Island General Manager commented: “MASSIV will be the marque ride for our park. Having a record-breaking ride is a great addition to Galveston and the perfect fit for our 10th anniversary. Best of all, MASSIV is the kind of ride that will appeal to a wide range of guests, something we are always looking for in our attractions.”

MASSIV will be open to riders soon.
