Cereal giant Weetabix highlighted the convenience of its new On the Go Breakfast Drinks in unique style last month with a successful attempt at the Guinness World Records title for the fastest milk float.

The record-breaking milk float reached a speed of 85mph (136km/h) during an attempt at Bruntingthorpe Race Circuit in Leicestershire, ably assisted by the driving skills of the World Rally GB Class driver Rob Gill, perfectly illustrating Weetabix’s slogan ‘Fuel for Big Days’.

The float that began as a traditional electric-powered vehicle with a top speed of 4mph was transformed into what a spokesman for Weetabix calls a ‘21 st Century speed machine’.

A lot has changed since people started their day with a visit from the milk-man and therefore the float was created to reflect the morning routines of fast-paced modern life and our need for an On the Go breakfast.

Fully road legal, the milk float is capable of reaching a potential speed of 100mph thanks to a V8 engine, while BMW wheels, a Formula 1-sounding exhaust, a chrome spoiler, bull-bars and even a flamethrower complete the sensational transformation.

Commenting on the attempt, Group Brand Manager at Weetabix, Ciara O’Connor said: ‘“What better way to deliver our new Weetabix On the Go Breakfast Drinks and acknowledge the nations changing breakfast habits, than on the back of a Guinness World Record breaking milk float?”

The fastest milk float in the world unsurprisingly caught the attention of the online media with coverage in Daily Star, Metro, The Sun and The Daily Mail.
