PC manufacturer HP's Officejet Pro X 576dw printer recently scored a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORD title for fastest time to print 500 sheets by a colour desktop printer.

The 576dw was confirmed as operating at a record-breaking speed after printing 500 sheets in a benchmark-setting time of 7 minutes and 19.25 seconds during a test in Vancouver, Washington.

To celebrate the achievement, earlier this month HP offered members of the public the chance to set a record of their own during the Business Show expo at the ExCel exhibition centre in London.

As well as being able to check out HP's latest printing products, visitors to the booth were given a chance to attempt potentially record-setting challenges with an official Guinness World Records adjudicator on hand throughout the day.

The record challenges that took place on HP's stand during the two-day event were themed around some of the key features of the company's printer products, such as speed, and energy efficiency.

In an impressive display of pedal power, Antoine Allen from North London set a new world record for most electrical energy generated by pedalling a bicycle in one minute, after creating a remarkable 16200 joules.

Elsewhere, after a number of close attempts, Bob Sampson from Amersham in Buckinghamshire showed incredibly nimble fingers to set a new record for fastest time to arrange the alphabet on a composing stick, after correctly lining up the pieces of metal type in order in a time of 1 minute and 36.88 seconds.
