The UAE is now home to yet another Guinness World Record title thanks to a recent record-breaking effort by Sharp Middle East & Africa (SMEF) to create the largest packaged food mosaic.

Measuring 24.7 m (81 ft) in length and 38.6 m (126 ft) in width, the mosaic was created at Dubai World Trade Center, and consisted of 79,300 packs of food that were put together by 149 employees from Sharp Middle East & Africa.

The record-breaking mosaic depicted Sharp’s 90” TV screen – the world’s largest commercially available TV – as a background. Overlaid on the TV screen was a tree in the left-hand corner, with positive and negative ions emanating from it representing Sharp’s latest Plasmacluster Ion (PCI) technology. Designed to suppress the effects of airborne viruses, the technology showcases Sharp’s dedication to develop responsible technology for environment.

The record was previously held in Hong Kong, China where a packaged food mosaic measuring 20.7 m (67 ft) in length and 30.9 m (101 ft) in width was created in 2009.

Following the completion of the mosaic, Sharp donated all the food packages to the UAE Red Crescent Society as part of a larger corporate social responsibility initiative called ‘Sharp Cares’ that the company actively engages in for the region.
