Accounting and Finance body CPA Australia has set a new Guinness World Records title for most people attending a business speed networking event (single venue), following a successful attempt in Hong Kong last month.
The body - one of the world’s largest with nearly 150k members – identified the record attempt as an entertaining, yet meaningful way to connect students and young professionals with industry experts.
The event, which took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, saw a record-setting 406 participants take part.
Participants were divided into two groups of with qualified accountants acting as mentors to the gathered university students or graduates who were all looking to pursue a career in accounting.
Speaking after the record attempt, Deborah Leung, General Manager of CPA Australia (Greater China) said: “Being one of the world’s largest professional accounting bodies, CPA Australia found that there is a growing need for business professionals and emerging young talents to extend their networks so they can build up their business and career prospects.
“The purpose of our event is to create a blissful platform for people “to see and be seen”. We hope that the participants can take this event as a stepping stone to meet with people they don’t normally get to meet and hopefully would bring on more business connections!”
