Pizza masters came from far and wide to be at a record-breaking event in Bundaberg in the Australian state of Queensland last week.

Domino's, Australia's biggest pizza chain, brought together many of its finest people in order to set a new Guinness World Record for the most pizzas made in 60 minutes by a team, with a target of 500 to beat.

The relatively small Domino's restaurant in Bundaberg, was running at full stretch by late Saturday afternoon as customers queued out the door and down the road to take advantage of the super-cheap pizzas on offer and, of course, to be part of a Guinness World Record.

The busiest time would be early evening so the stopwatch was started at 5.30pm.

A team of eight worked on the dough, another six placed toppings, two transported pizzas from the ovens, while two more had the job of cutting and boxing the finished pizzas.

Elsewhere, numerous other staff members served at the counters, delivering orders, washing, cleaning, sweeping, ferrying hot pizza trays, preparing toppings and taking phone orders.

The record of 500 was smashed after just 32 minutes and by the time the stopwatch reached one hour, 837 pizzas had been made to feed a whole lot of very happy Bundaberg families.

Staff, who included participants who had flown in from New Zealand for the attempt, paused to celebrate then, after just a few seconds, went straight back to work as orders continued to pour in until midnight, when the record breakers finally took a well-earned rest.
