"Push Up King" goes from strength to strength thanks to his “all or nothing” attitude
How many push ups could you do in a minute? Alex Goulding (UK) has earned multiple Guinness World Records titles for his push up skills, and he shows no signs of slowing down!
Push ups aren’t Alex’s only passion. He is also a mental health coach, personal trainer and fitness instructor.
So, where did his record-breaking journey begin? Alex told us: “My first Guinness World Records title was for most side jump push ups in one minute. I got into it because during lockdown, I was looking for a challenge, and all the gyms were closed. I was struggling with my mental health at the time, and I came across this record online.

“I decided this was the one that I was going to go for, and in six months, the record was raised significantly by numerous people all over the world. In 2021 I did it and was successful.”
On 1 July 2023, Alex beat his own record by two push ups, completing 63 to become the current holder.
He said: “Following shortly after my initial record, I was invited to the Guinness World Records TV show Lo Show dei Record. I was up against Jimmy Choi (USA), who had previously held the record for the most side jump push ups in one minute.”
Alex and Jimmy competed head-to-head in the fastest time to climb 10 levels by plyometric push ups.
Alex completed the challenge in 41.31 seconds, setting the record during his appearance on the show on 23 February 2022.
Alex also shares his fitness journey on his Instagram, posting record attempts, gym sessions, and content to encourage the public to keep fit.
Alex even featured in the Guinness World Records 2027 book, which you can buy here!
When he achieved his first titles, Alex experimented with different styles, and quickly realized that his strength lay in plyometric push ups.
“I’m an all or nothing person, so if I’m into something, then I’ll give it my absolute all,” he said.

“When I was going through a difficult time, exercise was the thing that was my go-to, and that exercise was a part of my routine, but I never realized how important it was.
“I really do believe that exercise has the ability to save and change people’s lives. So, I always encourage people to exercise not only to release all the good hormones, but to build confidence, self-respect, and make friends.”
Alex currently holds several Guinness World Records titles, including most push ups to planks in one minute (male), which he first set in 2023 before improving his record to 84 on 6 December 2025.
He said: “For me, with Guinness World Records, there isn’t much more I could wish to achieve in the fitness space, and it’s more than I’d ever expected.
“The most important thing when choosing a Guinness World Records title to attempt is finding something that you’re passionate about. I’m very sure that passion brings purpose, and if you’re passionate about something, then you will dedicate more time to it.”
