Colossal Slim Jim, taller than Pyramid of Giza, takes record as longest meat stick ever

Yeah, you’re going to want to Snap In for this one.

Last week, Conagra Brands (USA) – the creators of the iconic meat snack stick, the Slim Jim – rolled into the city of Omaha, Nebraska, USA to unveil the longest version ever created. 

Spanning a whopping total of 429 ft 5.4 in (130.896 m), and stretching meatily across a white table longer than an NFL football field, this supersized Slim Jim took the Guinness World Records title for the longest meat snack stick in history this 9 September.

Following a successful record attempt from Wenzel's Farm (USA) in August 2023, Conagra employees took on this challenge to see if they could manufacture a meat stick that retained the original Slim Jim flavour profile, ingredient mix, and recipe, at a much larger scale.

Yet they reiterated that the process was more difficult than expected, considering that the product had to maintain its shape and consistency despite the tremendous nature of its tail.

Nevertheless, the “Blaze Crew” – as they called themselves – were able to pull off this magnificently meaty feat in the parking lot of Conagra’s Omaha campus last Wednesday, beating Wenzel’s Farm’s record by roughly 116 ft (35 m).

Amongst staff, the record attempt was used as a bonding experience, as they discussed certain ways of preserving the Slim Jim throughout its creation and presentation.

And though their exact process was under wraps – literally, and figuratively – they invited Guinness World Records Adjudicator Michael Empric out to witness the event, which all started in their kitchen facility.

After creating the iconic Slim Jim mix, employees had wrapped the massive stick around a giant, rolling wire rack, which allowed the product to stay separated and dry in a contained space before its unveiling. 

From there, the Blaze Crew could roll the stick out into the parking lot, where they had assembled a white line of tables to present the colossal Slim Jim in all its glory.

With the exact amount of American pomp and circumstance that this very serious ceremony required, the Slim Jim was then unrolled and realigned on to the table in a spectacular fashion – maintaining its tubular form, and officially taking the record in front of a crowd of several hundred delighted staff members. 

Adjudicator Michael announced their success to the CEO of Conagra and their Head of Research and Development, and they enthusiastically expressed their satisfaction with how the final results turned out, especially after a lot of fun trial and error. 

So who knows… will this be the one meat stick to rule them all?
