After claiming a record by submerging himself in snow for over two hours, King of Cold Damian Kasprzyk (Poland) is back with another teeth-chattering title.

This time, Damian claimed the record for longest duration submerged in ice water (male) by staying underneath for an incredible 1 hr 29 sec.

He beat the previous mark of 58 min set by Valerjan Romanovski (Poland) last year.

Damian, who also holds the record for longest duration full body contact with ice (male) with 5 hr 1 min 33 sec, said being submerged in ice water was “significantly harder”.

The dad-of-two told us: “You lose a massive amount of body heat through your head in the water. On top of that, it was tough because I couldn't communicate with my team during the attempt, which was something I could do during my previous records.

“To make things even more challenging, we experienced some equipment issues right at the beginning, which was an added distraction.”

He added: “Due to the technical glitches at the start and simply not having my best form that day, it turned out to be a much tougher fight than expected, but I am glad that despite the problems we managed to achieve success.”

With three cold endurance records now under his belt, the 41-year-old says he’s “extremely happy” with what he’s achieved, but that doesn’t mean he’s done quite yet.

He said: “I have already started preparations for another challenge involving cold exposure and pushing the limits of human endurance in extreme conditions.”

As ever, Damian stresses that safety is always his top priority during these record attempts and he’s grateful for his team standing by to look after him.

The longest duration submerged in ice water (female) is 1 hour 38 seconds and was achieved by Maria Bodaj (Poland) in Sopot, Poland, on 19 December 2025.
