Lifelong friends who met at Scouts break record with their lightning quick camping skills
A pair of pals who’ve been Scouting for most of their lives have claimed a world record together with their camping skills.
Param Tanna and Adam Greenstreet (both UK) put their tent technique to the ultimate test when they smashed the record for fastest time to erect a two man tent (team of two).
They did it in just 1 min 4.92 seconds, shaving just under three seconds off the previous record.
Param, 22, and Adam, 24, met through the Scouts, having both joined the organization around the age of six.
They’ve been on many camping trips together, including taking on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition in Snowdonia, and completing their Explorer Belt in Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia and Greece.
While they don’t usually race to put their tent up in record time, Param joked that maybe they will from now on.

The freelance content producer, who works with some of the UK’s biggest YouTubers, told us that breaking a record had been a childhood dream after getting the Guinness World Records books for Christmas every year.
“As I grew up, I knew there must be a record I could beat,” Param said. “I found this record a few years back and talked to a few people about it but never actually actioned on it until last year, I knew Adam would be a great fit as he’s very skilful when it comes to Scouting skills and I wouldn’t say I’m too bad either.”

Param says it took him and Adam, who has just finished his Degree Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, a surprisingly short time to perfect their tent technique enough for such a speedy build.
They made a few mistakes along the way, streamlining things as they went, and it was on their 25th go that they achieved the record.
When asked what their secret to being so quick is, Param admitted he wasn’t really sure.

He said: “Just being in Scouting so long and putting up loads of tents in our lifetime. We know there are other people in Scouting that could definitely beat this record and we also believe our winning attempt could’ve been a lot quicker.”
Param added of breaking the record: “To be honest, I was ecstatic to break the record, was checking my emails every day in hope to see as we knew we had beaten it but just needed the evidence to be approved. Adam and I found it pretty cool to have a world record!”

Next, the friends are considering recruiting some others to take on the record for fastest time to erect a four man tent (team of 10).
They’ll be the kings of camping!
