Dad scoffs record number of fish fingers after making promise on winning quiz show stint
Nathan Davies (UK) is on a roll! First he won £98,000 on gameshow The 1% Club - and now he’s a world record holder!
The dad-of-two has claimed the title for most fish fingers eaten in one minute with a total of 15 after telling the show’s host, Lee Mack, that he wanted to break a world record and then following through on the promise he made on national television.
“I decided fish fingers was achievable given that I've got a few less formal eating records so it's up my street,” the project manager told us.

The 32-year-old chose fish fingers as they’re a staple in his household thanks to his young boys. He tested how quickly he could eat four of them and then decided to go for it.
When asked how it felt to officially claim the record, he said: “A bit strange, very proud to have a world record, but less proud when it's fish finger related!”
There’s nothing wrong with fish fingers, Nathan! You should be very proud.

Despite his valiant effort, Nathan admits he was a little gutted about how many he managed to chow down in the allotted time.
He said: “I think I could have done more if I had let them cool down longer, but just happy to have the record.”

And when we asked him if he was planning to break any more records, he joked: “Not if my wife has any say!”
Perhaps if Nathan wants to expand his skillset, he could see how long it would take him to eat the largest fish finger.

Measuring in at 2 m (6 ft 6 in) long and tipping the scales at 136 kg (299 13 oz) – almost the same weight as a giant panda – it was cooked up by Michael Gorich (Germany) in 2009.
Or if Nathan is looking for something to spend his gameshow money on, he could pick up some of the most expensive fish fingers. That record was set in 2004 by Barry Coutts’ Bistro in Aberdeen, Scotland. Made with smoked halibut, king scallops, crayfish, monkfish and Beluga caviar, they cost £100 each.
However, we suspect Nathan’s wife might have something to say about the winnings being splashed on fancy fish fingers!
