Brazilian couple attempt to prove they're "best in the world" with kissing record

There’s a lot of love in serial record breaker Renato Bayma Gaia’s latest title.

He and his girlfriend Naiara Roberta Ribeiro de Marins (both Brazil) teamed up to claim the record for most kisses in 30 seconds by a pair with a total of 195 smooches.

The record is particularly timely considering this Monday was International Kissing Day.

Renato, 32, and Naiara, 33, said they wanted to break the record together because they believe they’re the “best couple in the world”.

The doctors, who both worked on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic, have been together for a year and a half.

Renato has already broken a string of records, including fastest time to set up and topple 10 books (6.68 sec) and largest foot rotation (male) (210.66 degrees).

With this new title, he believes he has become the Brazilian with the most world records, and it was also a way to have his girlfriend’s name etched alongside his in the record books.

Renato, a black belt in taekwondo, admits he’s “addicted to winning”.

Dressed for victory in a jersey of his favourite soccer team, São José E.C., Renato is seen rapidly planting kisses on Naiara’s cheek as she beams a big smile.

Next, they plan to break the record for most kisses in one minute by a pair together.

That one is currently held by Cherry Yoshitake aka Mr Cherry and Kumiko Shiratori (both Japan) with a total of 277.

Renato says he hopes to spread a lot of positive messages through his record breaking.

He told us: “I am a bone marrow donor, and I have ADHD and I want to prove that people with ADHD are capable of everything they want.”

He also hopes to inspire more people in his home country to take on Guinness World Records challenges.
