BOSH! Big John tests knowledge of Chinese takeaway dishes in bid for world record glory
BOSH! Brace yourselves, because Big John is in the building.
The social media sensation, famous for his reviews of Chinese takeaways, is the latest guest on Guinness World Records' new podcast What’s The Record?
He sat down with host Will Munford to discuss his online fame, his childhood memories of our books and how the only record he reckons he could actually break is “how many times you can let off wind in the night”.
That’s not a record we monitor unfortunately, Big John. Sorry about that.

Big John – real name John Fisher – admitted he was a little nervous but “incredibly grateful” to be invited for a sit on our sofa because Guinness World Records was “a big part” of his childhood.
John, a proud dad to four kids, including professional heavyweight boxer Jonny Fisher, was modest as he talked about how his online career got started, saying he is just “a normal family man”.
He said: “I got known online for eating Chinese takeaway through no fault of my own – my middle son Henry used to put me on TikTok and social media without me knowing.

“And people just seemed to like my takeaway orders.”
He added: “I think people can just relate to that takeaway at the end of a working week, whether it be Chinese for me, or Indian or fish and chips or Turkish. People relate to what we do.”
John said someone once told him he’s like the bloke you meet on holiday and become mates with.

And he loves it. As you’ll learn as you watch, John is a warm and sociable character who is very fun to have a chat with.
While Big John didn’t walk into our London office with a record title, he was given the opportunity to leave with one.
As Adjudicator Emma Salt joined the duo on the sofa, Big John was invited to attempt the most takeaway dishes memorized in 30 seconds.

Before giving it a go, John joked: “I’ve got to think of short named ones.”
He added: “Listen, I’ll give it a good go, but make no mistake, there will be people out there who’ll wipe the floor with me once they see that, and bring it on.”

How many did he manage? You’ll have to watch to find out.
