The landing is a very important part of a skydive, but what if it’s so exceptional it breaks a world record?

Tanaboworn Sirikunakornkun, from Thailand, also known as “Super Toom”, landed on Ojos del Salado in Chile – the world’s highest active volcano - 5,442 m (17,854 ft) above sea level to claim the record for highest altitude landing of a skydive/parachute jump.

With support from HALO2, Atacamacopter, Chilean DGAC and Spondylus, his dive on 14 March, broke the record of 5,317 m (17,444 ft) that had stood since 2023.

“The view was incredibly beautiful,” he told us, “unlike anything I had ever seen before. It is a truly amazing place, with colours created by various minerals that make the volcano look like a rainbow.”

The 48-year-old real estate entrepreneur and university professor started skydiving in 2024 and has already done 1,250 jumps.

But when it came to breaking this record, he said he wanted to make people around the world recognize and feel pride for Thailand.

So why choose Ojos del Salado?

Super Toom said: “Because it was a location that I, along with the project directors PH and Nadia and the team, found interesting. After exploring it, we discovered the incredible beauty of the highest volcano in the world.”

The daredevil, who is also an executive in the Thai Parliament, was given the nickname “Toom” by his parents, and the “Super” was added later to represent the power and responsibility he had been given, he explained.

He says he felt “confident and happy” during his skydive and that he was “proud and deeply moved” when he found out he’d officially broken the world record.

Now, he wants to claim another in his home country.

He said: “Every human has special abilities within themselves. Everyone can be ‘Super’ in their own way. We begin great things by doing them for our families and for the greater good.

“Just remember, don’t let anyone look down on or destroy your dreams. Stay determined, dedicated, disciplined - and the universe will grant you strength.”
