Japanese gamer breaks record by playing Super Mario games for over two days
Do you like Super Mario enough to play the games pretty-much none stop for days on end?
Audrey Mina (Japan) does.
Last year, the gamer broke the record for longest videogame marathon playing games in the Super Mario series with a total time of 60 hr 17 min 58 sec.
Settling in at her gaming desk in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan, she played games starring the popular Italian plumber from 2-5 May.
Audrey live-streamed her record-breaking marathon on her YouTube channel, where a massive 125,000 people subscribe to her content.
And there was a big community effort to keep her going, with fans posting comments to cheer her on through the whole 60 hours.
Her efforts saw her break the record of 50 hours set by Dan Ryckert (USA) in 2011.

As with all our marathon attempts, Audrey would have earned five minutes of rest for every hour of activity.
It’s up to participants to decide whether to take a break every hour or save them up for longer breaks.

Oh, and did we mention Mario is also a Guinness World Records ICON?
Mitsugu Kikai (Japan) owns the largest collection of Super Mario memorabilia, consisting of 5,441 items.

Speedrunner “averge11” (USA) broke the record for fastest completion of Super Mario Bros. in 2025 with an incredible time of just 4 min 54.415 sec.
And gamer "PangaeaPanga" became the first person to complete Super Mario World blindfolded. In 2015, he finished the game in 23 min 14 sec without even being able to see it.
"This run features three deaths, getting lost briefly in Starworld, baby Yoshi eating the goal tape, and entertaining spectators to keep the hype up for when I was too concentrated on the run," he wrote on his YouTube page.
The record was achieved on an emulator version and he used keyboard controls.
If you want to become a record breaker with Mario, the fastest completion of the Super Mario series title is currently unclaimed.
