Horror fans dress as Michael Myers to celebrate new Halloween game with terrifying record
A group of horror fans got themselves all revved up for the release of the new Halloween videogame by taking to the streets dressed as killer Michael Myers.
The terrifying mass of Michaels – 254 of them to be precise – earned the Guinness World Records title for largest gathering of people dressed as Michael Myers (Halloween franchise).
The record was a joint effort between IllFonic, Gun Interactive, Compass International Pictures, and Further Front (all USA) and took place in Boston, Massachusetts, on 28 March.

Miles Dompier, who works for IllFonic, told us: “As huge horror fans, we’ve seen countless fans demonstrate their love of Halloween at horror conventions and events throughout the years.
“Our team literally brought the Myers’ House to PAX East to share our first playable demo for Halloween, the video game, and that felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate that fandom and flood the streets of Boston with the Boogeyman himself.”
Incredible pictures from the attempt show hundreds of people dressed in blue coveralls and that signature creepy mask while waving around fake bloodied knives.
The moment fans gathered to make horror history happen. THANK YOU!

Miles added: “Michael Myers has been striking fear into the hearts of viewers for decades, and that signature mask, those iconic coveralls, and that piercing kitchen knife have become one of the most iconic looks in horror history. He is a genre legend and the face of Halloween.”
The new Halloween videogame is set to drop on 8 September for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S via Steam and Epic Games Store.
It features a “killers vs survivors” format based on the original 1978 movie where players can choose to be in control of Myers or play as the civilians desperately trying to escape him.

Miles is a massive fan of the Halloween franchise and says he’s watched all the movies several times.
But when it comes to which one is the best, he says you just can’t beat the original.
“The original Halloween is a foundational horror film that, in many ways, serves as the blueprint for the modern slasher,” he said. “Sitting down to immerse ourselves in this genuinely terrifying classic is an annual October tradition for my wife and me.”

Clearly there are a lot of people out there who feel just as passionately about Michael Myers.
But that doesn’t mean organizing an attempt like this is easy.
Miles said: “There are a great deal of logistics involved in coordinating a gathering of this size, especially when there are firm guidelines detailing who can participate. We are incredibly grateful to our friends at ReedPop for providing an ideal location for this attempt and all the enthusiastic fans who championed our efforts and rallied the community to secure the title.

“The energy was infectious outside the convention centre! We will never forget the sound of 254 people chanting ‘MICHAEL’ as the official countdown began. This community endured the cold and the wind of Boston to ensure this attempt was a success, and we are so grateful to everyone who shared this legendary moment with us.
“We’ve seen so many stunning pictures and videos from our gathering, and like many of the folks who participated, we will never forget that day.”
He added: “We’d like to extend an enormous thank you to everyone who participated in the attempt and the thousands of players who stopped by our booth at PAX East to play Halloween.”
