Darts legend Phil "The Power" Taylor "chuffed to bits" as he's handed GWR certificates
Darts legend Phil “The Power” Taylor has named the player he thinks could one day take his iconic records from him.
We recently caught up with Phil, who dominated the sport for three decades, and of course took the opportunity to present him with his official Guinness World Records certificates.
Retired Phil (UK) holds four incredible world records: the most Premier League Darts titles (6, equalled by Michael van Gerwen), the most wins of darts World Championships (16), the most wins of the darts World Grand Prix (10), and the most wins of darts World Matchplay (16).
“'I am chuffed to bits. It is a real honour,” Phil said as GWR Adjudicator Will Munford presented him with his certificates during his appearance on BBC Radio Stoke.
When asked if he think there’s anyone who could take his records one day, he said: “Will it be beaten? I don’t know.
“It can be beat. I could have done at least 20 – I lost five finals, I think, and a couple of them really I shouldn’t have lost, so it can be beaten.
“I think young Luke [Littler], if he can, will be the one to do it. He really is talented, honestly, he’s a one off.”
Luke made history in 2024 when he became the youngest winner of the PDC World Darts Championship at the age of 16 years 333 days.
And being backed by a legend like Phil in this way is surely an accolade he’ll be pleased with.

BBC Radio Stoke also challenged Phil to try and earn a fifth world record to raise some funds for Comic Relief.
Ever a good sport, Phil attempted the record for most red double and treble darts in a minute live on air.
The minimum to beat was six, but after three valiant attempts, sadly Phil didn’t quite make it.
Even legendary darts players get nervous when taking on world record attempts!
He also named Luke as the perfect challenger for this record, so if you’re up for it, Luke, let us know.
