Stuntman claims two world records with epic driving skills - and does it all in reverse
A stuntman put his driving skills to the ultimate test to break two high-octane world records.
Sultan Muhammad Khan (Pakistan), known as “Sultan Golden”, put the pedal to the metal in front of a huge crowd on 13 December to claim records for the longest reverse ramp jump by car and the fastest mile driven in reverse.
Jumping in a standard 2500cc Toyota Mark X, Golden reversed up a ramp at rapid speed at a race track in Quetta, Pakistan.
Driving off the end of the ramp, he flew through the air before landing his car 37.10 m (121.71 ft) away to earn his first title.

His jump broke the record of 27.2 m (89 ft 3.25 in) set by Rob Dyrdek (USA) in 2014.
Before that, the record was broken by a stuntman on British TV show Top Gear in 2008, with a distance of 18.62 m (61 ft 2 in).

Golden told us: “As a professional stuntman, I decided to attempt this record to demonstrate advanced vehicle control and precision through a highly technical reverse-driving stunt and to set a new benchmark in professional automotive stunt performance.”
Golden performed this stunt on a purpose-built ramp and the jump was measured from the take-off edge to the first point of landing.

In a test of speed, Golden earned his second record by driving a mile in reverse in just 58.12 seconds.

He performed this record-breaking feat in a Toyota Crown and beat the record of 1 min 15.18 sec by Scot Burner (USA) in 2022.
Terry Grant (UK) had claimed the record before that, in 2012, with a time of 1 min 37.02 sec.

Golden’s record-breaking activities have even attracted the attention of Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari.
He said in a statement, via Tribune: “Sultan Golden’s success is a reflection of the courage, skill and dedication of Pakistanis.
“This feat has further strengthened Pakistan’s positive image at the global level.”
