Stranger Things superfan turns his home Upside Down with largest memorabilia collection
Stranger Things superfan Joey Avalos (USA) has filled his home with thousands of pieces of memorabilia from the Upside Down.
As the most in-demand TV show of 2025, it’s easy to understand how the adventures of Eleven, Will, Mike and the rest of the gang could have captured artist Joey’s imagination so vividly.
“I started collecting right after the show came out but there wasn’t a lot of merch out there,” he told us. “I was already a Funko Pop! collector so that was the easiest way to get into collecting Stranger Things items.”
And that’s all he planned on collecting at the time, but now, he has 2,301 different items – officially the world’s largest collection of Stranger Things memorabilia.
Joey’s home in Chandler, Arizona, is heaven for any fan of the iconic Netflix series.
"Like the Upside Down, my collection continued to spread throughout my house and continues to spread today", Joey said.
Even his bathroom, with a “Welcome to Hawkins” sign on the door, is filled with memorabilia.
Each wall is dedicated to a different part of Hawkins, such as the high school, the Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop where Steve and Robin work together, and Palace Arcade where Max sets the high score that first gets the boys’ attention.

The walls are also adorned with photos of Joey with different cast members he’s met as well as his own artwork tributes to the show, which have been autographed by the stars.
Joey said: “I’ve been fortunate to get a lot of my grails, but as a collector and an artist, I like to paint portraits of the actors and then go to Cons and get them signed – that’s one of my favourite things – a one of one, the only one out there.
“So, if I was able to paint a portrait of the Duffer Brothers, the creators of the show, and get them to sign that, that would be something I’d want to put in my collection.”
He added: “When I first watched Stranger Things, I instantly fell in love with going back to the 80s. I’m an 80s child myself so I love all the throwbacks to the iconic movies like The Goonies and E.T., I love the mystery of Eleven and her powers, the conspiracy theory of Hawkins Lab… just the whole thing, that moment in history I love so much.”

With Funko Pop! figurines piled floor to ceiling in one room, Joey showed us around his magnificent collection.
Among the selection are some rare finds, such as the 2018 San Diego Comic Con Gold Hopper. Only 40 of them exist in the world.
Among Joey’s other prized possessions are a quarter-scale Demogorgon statue and a replica of the guitar Eddie Munson played in the season 4 finale.
He also has all of the Stranger Things comic books that have been printed, but delighted in showing off two of the rarest ones – one signed by Eleven actress Millie Bobby Brown and one with a blank white cover.

Joey loves collecting rare and designer toys and has lots of items that you’ll be unlikely to see anywhere else.
And of course, now that the show has reached its epic conclusion, we couldn’t resist asking Joey which episode he loved the most.
He said: “My favourite episode is Dear Billy from season 4, I loved seeing Mad Max running way from Vecna, Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” is blaring, it’s slow motion and she’s trying to get back to Lucas, Dustin and Steve in the cemetery. Man, it hit me right in the feels and to this day it’s pretty much my favourite moment in Stranger Things.”
It got us in the feels too!
