It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right? Argentinian man visits 152 pubs in just 24 hours

In the search for a wild Friday night he’ll never remember, and an accomplishment he’ll never forget, Martin Perez (Argentina) took to the streets of Buenos Aires to see just how many pubs one man can visit in just 24 hours.
Turns out, with a little dedication, a high alcohol tolerance, and a native knowledge of the bustling Buenos Aires nightlife – he was able to reach triple digits.
Between 7:00 p.m. on 14 March and 6:59 p.m. the following day, Martin hit an incredible number of 152 bars, securing the Guinness World Records title for most pubs visited in 24 hours (individual) and undoubtedly a hangover!
Of course, applicants don’t need to order an alcoholic drink at every establishment – any drinks are allowed, as long as they meet the minimum 125 ml (0.2 pints).
And Martin’s title-taking attempt wasn’t just about the drinking – he wanted to demonstrate how his hometown of Buenos Aires can facilitate these memorable experiences.
“This record attempt was a personal tribute to the city I love and where I was born and still live,” he said.
“I believe Buenos Aires is one of the most exciting cities in the world, with an outstanding gastronomic and nightlife culture. I saw this challenge as a unique way to show the world how vibrant and extraordinary my city is.”
After some careful organizing, Martin took to the streets with his plan in place: he set up public notaries to sign off on the receipts of his drinks at every locale, and had two independent witnesses rotating on four-hour shifts to hold him accountable and keep him company.
He also was accompanied by Yamil Santoro, a Deputy of the City of Buenos Aires, who wanted to witness Martin's attempt firsthand and also celebrate their local culture.
Martin began the route in the neighbourhood of Recoleta, then moved through Palermo Soho, Palermo Hollywood, Colegiales, and finally Chacarita, where he achieved his first major goal: reaching 100 bars before the majority of them closed for the night.
But by this time, he had already consumed one hundred drinks, met with tonnes of excited people, and had his photo taken for documentary evidence dozens of times!
So he went home for a few hours of rest, before picking his journey back up again from midday on Saturday.
Martin then visited several iconic bars across Downtown Buenos Aires, San Telmo, Belgrano, and Núñez, before finally finishing the challenge at 6:59 p.m. that night.
He stopped at a total of 152 bars, far surpassing his initial goal of 140 and breaking previous record holder David Clarkson’s title from Sydney, Australia, of 120!
Congratulations, Martin. We hope your adventure was as exciting as Buenos Aires!
