Woman bursts into tears of joy after walking on rolling globe for record distance
Jasmin Saaristo (Finland) joked she went ‘crazy in a good way’ after deciding to see how far she could walk on a rolling globe.
After mapping out a course, the 25-year-old walked 1,100 m (3,608 ft 11 in) to claim the record for farthest distance walking on a rolling globe.
That’s just a little over the length of 10 American football fields.
A rolling globe – or walking globe – is a circus skill which sees a performer balance on top of a large sphere, often juggling or doing gymnastic stunts while balancing on top of the ball and controlling it with their hands or feet.

But they don’t usually keep it going non-stop for nearly an hour like Jasmin did.
“Attempting this was a bit crazy – maybe I am a little crazy too… in a good way,” she said.

Explaining her tactics, she added: “I tried to walk slowly and carefully.
“I had to trust myself and my body and know that no matter what happened I tried to keep moving and I tried to ignore all negative feelings.”

Jasmin said making her way around the corners of her rectangular course proved rather tricky, but that she focussed on maintaining a calm pace rather than trying to rush.
When she reached 500 m, her feet started to hurt.

“It was mentally hard to ignore the pain that was getting worse on every step,” she admitted.
But pushing through that pain was all worth it.

Jasmin said: “I couldn’t believe that I’d walked that long of a distance.
“It feels incredible, I hope this record stands for years but who knows?”
After stepping down off the globe with her record secured, Jasmin broke down in tears of joy and was congratulated by her mum, who rushed over to hug her.
