High school teacher says she's officially cool after breaking fire breathing record

A fire-breathing high school teacher says you don’t have to be an athlete to be a world record holder.
Raederle Sterling (USA) is super proud of herself after she entered her name in the record books with her red hot skills – and so she should be.
The 38-year-old mum-of-two set the record for most flames blown in 30 seconds (fire breathing) with an impressive total of 68 when she took on the challenge last September in Shakopee, Minnesota.
She’s been a professional fire performer for more than 20 years, and realized she could break a record with her passion while she was training with her crew.
Raederle explained: “I decided to take this record on almost by accident. I was working on a new fire breathing technique with my fire troupe, just started blowing as many fire balls as I could in rhythm to music and just kept going and adding more and more.
“Eventually one day, I just asked ‘how many am I doing’ and ‘what is the record’ and I was almost there already!
“As a mother of two kids and someone who’s not athletic or someone who ever really thought about holding a world record, I wanted to be able to show other people like me that we can do that too.
“It feels amazing to hold a Guinness World records title!”
As we caught up with her, Raederle demonstrated how to transfer the flame with her fingers, put a flame out in her mouth by cutting off the oxygen, and how she can light a baton using her tongue.
“But just remember, it’s dangerous, never do this at home,” she reminded us.
Raederle went on: “One of my favourite things is telling my high school students that I teach every day that their teacher, in fact, is cool.
“I also love being able to talk about it with other people. I love being able to be proud of myself that way, it’s really wonderful.”
It is! And you are Officially Amazing, Raederle!
