Get this guy in your band – drummer smacks snare drum 6,334 times in three minutes
Eric Carr (USA) says “drums are fun” – and for this passionate percussionist, that might be an understatement.
The drummer has been smashing the snare for over 25 years now, winning multiple competitions and serving for years as an enthusiastic drum corps member, most recently for “The Commandant’s Own” US Marine Drum and Bugle Corps.
He even creates fun and educational videos for drum-thusiasts, such as when he played the Hawaii Five-O drum theme with 500 drums:
But Eric wanted to put his skills to the test – and maybe even take home a record – so he set out to break multiple Guinness World Records titles in one day. The big kahuna? (As they might say on Hawaii Five-O) How many drum beats he could hit.
So he brought in some audio engineers to Highland Regional High School in New Jersey, USA, who helped him set up and monitor his attempt.

Eric was trying to break the record for most drum beats using drumsticks in three minutes, which would require him to maintain great stamina. Luckily, he had plenty of experience, and was prepared to take on the challenge.
And when the timer started, he was ready – wrists moving as fast as a hummingbird’s wing, he smashed at the snare drum with surgical precision.

And when the time was up – he set the record! Eric made an incredible 6,334 taps on the drum in three minutes, beating the prior record by almost 1,000.

The final number was measured using a drumometer, a practice tool for drummers designed to assess and enhance their technical precision, speed, and stamina by tracking the number of strokes they can play in a given time period. The two audio engineers present during the attempt also confirmed that all 6,334 beats adhered to the guidelines.

And from there, he took on a number of other fun record titles, including most drumstick flips in one minute, which required him to spin his sticks midair:

A record title that he also took home, after achieving 128 flips in 60 seconds.
Congratulations Eric, you’re Officially Amazing!
