YouTuber MrSavage became the king of Fortnite when he got an elimination from over 1 km away!

The Norwegian social media star and pro gamer – real name Martin Foss Andersen – used a telescope to execute his unbelievable gameplay from across the Norwegian Sea.

With a total of 1,161.31 m (3,810 ft 1 in), he earned the record for longest distance elimination in Fortnite using a telescope.

You can see his incredible feat in the below video, produced and filmed by Red Bull with the help of Perspective Pictures.

Ahead of his attempt, which took place last November in Ørsvågvær, Norway, within the Arctic Circle, MrSavage said: “Today, we’re going to be making gaming history.”

And he wasn’t kidding.

The set up was like nothing you’ve ever seen before – with Martin sat behind a keyboard and mouse, looking through a telescope at the 32-in monitor his game was on set up across the sea.

The influencer has been playing Fortnite since its launch in 2017, but has surely never played it like this before. Has anyone?

To make things even trickier, the location he was at in Northern Norway had only three to four hours of daylight at that time of year, and the conditions weren’t the clearest, with rain and snow during parts of the day.

The pressure was really on.

Starting from a distance of 500 m (1,640 ft 5 in), Martin admitted he could barely see a thing.

“If I get this the first game I might actually be the GOAT, you know,” he quipped.

It took just seconds for him to be eliminated.

“That is so hard. I couldn’t even see this guy when he shot me,” he said.

He tried again and again, switching up his tactics. He tried shooting through windows and luring people into rooms where he was waiting, but missed the crucial shots.

A POV through the telescope showed the tiny visual he was working with, so it’s no surprise he found it more difficult than usual to get an elimination.

On his ninth attempt – and 45 minutes in – he finally did it.

Then, the distance was more than doubled to the final 1,161.31 m (3,810 ft 1 in).

“This is really hard, I can’t see nothing,” he said as he looked through the telescope for the first time at that distance.

It also didn’t help that his hands were freezing, with the temperature now at -1°C (30.2°F).

Now pitch black, freezing, and raining, Martin’s view of the screen was almost non-existent.

Despite his frustration, he soldiered on.

His tactic was to find a shotgun, get to a house and make someone else follow him in there.

On his 45th attempt, and after eight long hours, his patience paid off.

Standing up, he pumped his fists in celebration, before being presented with his certificate by Guinness World Records Adjudicator Richard Stenning.

What an epic gaming feat!
