MrBeast – the social media sensation and GWR Icon – is returning with a second season of the show Beast Games next month, and he’s given us a special glimpse of the record-breaking fun.

Following up on the success of season one, which shattered a shocking 44 world record titles, the star has revealed that the new season will debut on Wednesday 7 January on Amazon Prime Video – and this time, he promises that the stakes will be even higher, with huge prizes, crazy spectacles, and an intriguing new twist on the rules.

Behind Beast Games

Inspired by the work of content creator Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson (USA), record holder for the most subscribers on YouTube, season one of Beast Games combined the premise of Squid Game with his viral video “$456,000 Squid Game in Real Life!”

In 10 episodes, the show pitted over 1,000 contestants against each other for the chance to win the largest prize fund awarded for a competitive reality TV show, $5 million (£3.75 million) cash. Tears were shed, limits were pushed, and by the end the audience was captivated by the determination of the incredible participants.

Season one quickly became a hit as the most-watched unscripted TV show on the streaming platform this year, amassing 50 million viewers after only 25 days and earning a renewal for three seasons. And the show even earned its way into the 2026 Guinness World Records book, with an entire spread dedicated to the record-breaking extravaganza.

The return of the Beast

To capitalize off this success, the showrunners for season two planned out a 200-person competition between the smartest and strongest – culminating in a gigantic battle between brains and brawn for a $5 million (£3.75 million) prize.

Taking place in a dazzling arena named “Beast City”, participants have to complete different games to advance their odds of claiming one of the biggest cash prizes in game show history.

And while alliances form and prizes are distributed, viewers will be fascinated by how far people go for the chance to win.

In a promotional clip posted on Instagram, MrBeast remarked that season two will really put the contestants to the test.

“Nothing will prepare you for the ultimate battle between strong and smart…” he said. “You’ve developed bonds with people, and they would trust you, probably, with their lives.

“[We] remind you that these are real people, they’re not just players in a game – and find out how far they’ll go to win five million dollars.”

And when Guinness World Records took a look at the set, we knew exactly what he meant.

Besides the new sprawling city where the games would take place, the team had already broken a world record for the largest continuous video floor (LED) at 5,183.6 ft² (481.67 m²) – which is  about the length of a blue whale, and bigger than a basketball court.

They also created an incredible obstacle course, state-of-the-art accommodation for the players, and dozens of other thrilling challenges (as well as some pretty special guest appearances) that you’ll just have to see to believe.
