A man from Uttar Pradesh, India, has broken his own world record for the longest duration standing on one leg blindfolded.

Ram Phal, 50, balanced on his right leg for 2 hr 21 min, improving upon his previous time by 20 min.

Ram has broken this record three times before – once in 2021 and twice in 2023.

He said: “I know I am aged, but my desire is to print my name in the Guinness World Records book before my death.

“That’s why I work on this same record to check my own potential as well as try to set a benchmark as high as possible.”

When attempting this record, the disengaged foot may not be rested on the standing foot or leg – it must remain suspended in the air.

Although balancing on one leg is a somewhat easy skill to perform, it becomes increasingly difficult when done for long periods, requiring core body and leg strength as well as unwavering focus.

And with the addition of a blindfold, balancing becomes even harder.

Training for this skill was difficult for Ram when he first started in 2021, but he kept practising in order to break the record.

He did it to honour his father, who was a big fan of Guinness World Records.

His first official attempt in 2021 saw him achieve a time of 1 hr 6 min, doubling the previous record.

However, his record was broken just one month later, prompting him to take it back last summer with a time of 1 hr 38 min.

Ram improved upon his record later in the year, becoming the first person to surpass the two-hour mark, and he’s now put his record even further beyond reach with his latest effort.

I want to set this record at maximum level where if a person wants to break it, then they feel difficulty. - Ram
