Nepalese man’s mission to break world records with incredible hand-walking skills
A Nepalese man with an uncanny knack for walking on his hands has been using his super skills to break records for years.
Hari Chandra Giri is so good at walking on his hands that he can whiz down a set of stairs quicker than some people can on their feet.
It’s something he started doing when he was just eight years old, and it’s since earned him worldwide recognition.
The 30-year-old began his record-breaking journey in November 2021, when he smashed the fastest time to descend fifty steps walking on hands, doing it in just 12.65 seconds.
He said he was inspired by seeing other people breaking records.

Just six months later, in May 2022, Hari was back at it – this time, breaking two records in one day.
On a running track in Kathmandu, he earned the title for fastest 10 metres walking on hands with a football (soccer ball) between the legs with a time of 4.49 seconds, and the fastest 50 m walking on hands with a football (soccer ball) between the legs in 25.58 seconds.

Going back to the stairs, Hari, who works in a Nepalese Army sports centre, broke the record for fastest time to descend 75 stairs on the hands in March 2023.
He did it in just 25.03 seconds, averaging three steps every second and shaving five seconds off the previous record.

Hari even once demonstrated his hand-walking skills during a visit to our London HQ by performing a handstand then sipping a glass of water through a straw while upside down.
Taking a different approach for his most recent foray into record breaking, Hari got on his feet instead.

Balancing on top of a giant tyre, he performed the most skips on an upright tyre in one minute – 120.
Hari said of his journey so far: “I feel so proud and I want to recognize my country in the world.
“I wish to make more records in the future.”
